Jared Isaacman, NASA chief, announced on Saturday that the launch of Artemis 2, the first crewed flyby mission to the Moon in over 50 years, will be delayed due to technical issues. The problem with helium flow to the SLS rocket has led to the cancellation of the planned March launch window.
Isaacman expressed understanding for the disappointment surrounding the delay, especially among the NASA team who have been diligently preparing for the mission. He acknowledged the historical perspective, noting that setbacks were also encountered during NASA's achievements in the 1960s, which have not been replicated since.
To address the technical issues, the SLS rocket and Orion spacecraft will be moved back to the Vehicle Assembly Building at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida for investigation and necessary repairs.
