Pakistan rejects military solution for Sudan conflict

Pakistan has rejected the possibility of a military solution to the conflict in Sudan, emphasizing that meaningful dialogue is the only way forward. At the UN Security Council meeting regarding the situation in Sudan, Pakistan's Deputy Permanent Representative, Usman Jadoon, expressed support for the peace plan proposed by the transitional Sudanese government. He also welcomed the African Union Peace and Security Council's Communiqué issued on 12 February. Jadoon strongly denounced the atrocities carried out by the Rapid Support Forces in Darfur, particularly in El Fasher and El Geneina, as well as the ongoing violence in Kordofan. He highlighted that deliberate attacks on civilians, peacekeepers, UN personnel, and humanitarian workers are unacceptable and could constitute war crimes. Jadoon reiterated Pakistan's dedication to collaborating with all stakeholders to achieve a unified, sovereign, and stable Sudan.
