FBI searches for new high-profile missing case following Nancy Guthrie's disappearance

FBI Joins Search for Missing Researcher Linked to Nancy Guthrie's Disappearance

The search for Nancy Guthrie, mother of Savannah Guthrie, continues as authorities shift focus to another high-profile missing person case.

The latest disappearance involves William Neil McCasland, a veteran researcher with ties to high-level defense technology laboratories. McCasland, a retired US Air Force general, was last seen in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where a concerning number of disappearances have been reported.

The FBI is assisting in the search efforts, with the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office taking the lead in the investigation, according to Daily Mail.

A spokesperson for the FBI Albuquerque Field Office stated, "The FBI is involved in this investigation to assist our local law enforcement partners with any tools, tactics, or techniques that could benefit their investigations."

McCasland, 68, has known medical conditions, prompting the sheriff's office to issue a Silver Alert, a public notification system used to locate missing seniors or individuals with medical conditions like Alzheimer's or dementia. Authorities are concerned for his safety due to his health issues.

Previously, McCasland has overseen the Phillips Research Site and the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson in Ohio.
