Karachi to Experience Light to Moderate Rain Today

Karachi experienced early morning showers on September 10, 2025, with commuters passing through Numaish Chowrangi.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast for Karachi, predicting light to moderate rain along with thunderstorms and strong winds in the city today.

Cloudy conditions are expected over the next 24 hours, with the possibility of light to moderate rain in various areas. The maximum temperature is forecasted to range between 35 to 37 degrees Celsius, with humidity levels currently at 65% and light southeast winds.

The PMD has cautioned about a well-marked low-pressure system over Gujarat, India, that may develop into a tropical cyclone upon entering the northeast Arabian Sea around October 1. This raises concerns of strong winds, heavy rains, and potential damage in parts of Sindh.

The Tropical Cyclone Warning Centre in Karachi has indicated that the low-pressure system is likely to move west-northwest and could intensify into a depression upon entering the Arabian Sea near India’s Saurashtra region. While there is no immediate threat to Pakistan’s coastal areas, officials are closely monitoring the situation for any developments.

Moist currents from the Arabian Sea are already affecting southeastern Sindh, bringing widespread rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds to various cities including Karachi, Hyderabad, and Thatta. This weather pattern is expected to persist from September 29 night until October 2, with isolated moderate to heavy downpours likely in some areas.

Earlier this month, Karachi faced heavy rains from September 8 to 10, resulting in flooding and residents being stranded. The city also experienced light rain and drizzle on September 16.
