Iran is currently reviewing proposals from the United States, according to a statement released by Iran's Press TV. The proposals were delivered by Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir during his visit to Tehran. The Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council confirmed that Iran has not yet responded to the proposals.
Meanwhile, tensions in the region have escalated as Iran tightened control over the Strait of Hormuz, prompting warnings from Tehran. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced that the strait would be closed until the US lifts its naval blockade on Iranian vessels and ports. This move was in response to what Iran perceives as a violation of the ceasefire agreement by the US.
In a separate development, US President Donald Trump mentioned that there were "very good conversations going on" with Iran. He emphasized that the US is taking a tough stance in the negotiations but did not provide further details. Trump also convened a meeting in the White House Situation Room to discuss the crisis around the Strait of Hormuz and the ongoing talks with Iran. The meeting included top officials such as Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, among others.
The conflict between the US and Iran has been ongoing since February 28, with hostilities escalating and leading to a temporary ceasefire on April 8 mediated by Pakistan. Talks between the two countries have taken place, with efforts for another session in Islamabad currently in progress.
