President reaffirms Pakistan's commitment to combat narcotics trafficking

Pakistan and Somalia have recently signed an agreement eliminating the visa requirement for Diplomatic Passport Holders. The signing ceremony was witnessed by President Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad. President Zardari expressed Pakistan's commitment to strengthening ties with African nations, including Somalia, during a meeting with Somalia's Minister of Interior, Ali Yousuf. He highlighted the value Pakistan places on its relationship with Somalia and emphasized the importance of increased collaboration in areas of mutual interest. The President reiterated Pakistan's dedication to combating transnational crime and narcotics trafficking at both regional and global levels.

The Somali Minister praised Pakistan as a dependable partner and brother to Somalia since its independence. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by Pakistani peacekeepers during UN missions in Somalia in the 1990s, where Pakistani personnel lost their lives serving under the United Nations flag.
